Let the troubleshooter find and fix problems that prevent the printer from working properly.
Restart Windows once the troubleshooter completes the process and check if that helps.
Check the Print Spooler Service Running
Press Windows + R type services.msc in the box and hit enter.
This will open the Windows Service Console,
Now look for the services called Print Spooler, make sure the services are started and set to Automatic.
To set the service to automatic, right click on the service and click automatic.
Click Apply, then click OK.
Device Manager Tweak
Press Windows + R keys together, type devmgmt.msc and click ok.
This will open Device Manager and list all installed drivers.
Click on the View then select ‘ Show hidden devices ‘ from the drop-down menu.
Next, expand the Ports (COM and LPT) category
Right click on Printer Port and then select Properties option.
Now in the Properties dialog of the Printer Port (LPT1), go to the Port Settings tab and then select the option ‘ Use any interrupt assigned to the port ‘, then check the box for ‘ Enable Legacy Plug and Play Detection ‘ box.
That’s all after clicking OK to save changes and then close Device Manager. Restart your computer and printer to get a fresh start and try to take a print. Hopefully this time you should be able to print any document without encountering the Windows 10 printer in an error state issue.
Reinstall Printer Drivers
If you still have the same problem of printer in error state while taking prints? Then try updating or reinstalling the printer drivers on your system. To do this, open Device Manager by following below.
Press Windows101tricks + R, type devmgmt.msc and press Enter key.
On Device Manager, expand Printers and then find your printer in the list.
Now right-click on the printer driver and then select the Uninstall Device option from the context menu.
When the warning window appears ‘ You are about to uninstall this device from your system ‘. Tick on remove the driver software for this device and simply click on Uninstall button to continue. Once the printer drivers have been uninstalled, restart your system. After restarting, the Windows 10 PC will automatically attempt to install printer drivers.
Download the latest driver from the manufacturer’s website
Visit the manufacturer’s website and manually download the latest versions of printer drivers for your Windows 10 PC.
Then install the printer driver, run setup.exe and follow the on-screen instructions. Manually installing updated printer drivers can help you fix Windows 10 printer problem and many similar printer issues.
