How to Change Your Mac’s Computer Name

How to change the name of your Mac?
Open System Preferences on your Mac. To do this, click on the gear icon in the dock. Alternatively, you can also access the settings via the apple menu at the top left.
Now switch to the ” Shares ” menu .
Here you can change the name of the mac device. Just type the new name into the text field . The name is then updated automatically and is displayed on the network. If the menu is locked with a lock icon , you must first click the lock in the lower left and then enter your Mac password if necessary.
